Manually published URLs will pull in page views and unique views with an integration with Google Analytics.
Kapost allows you to update content URLs in order to retrieve analytics on content you published outside of Kapost, manually published, or content you published before using Kapost.
For example, you have white papers published on your company website that are not in Kapost. You published them before you were a Kapost user. However, you'd like to use Kapost as a single platform to see how these white papers are performing, add them into your Kapost initiatives, associate persona and buying stages with them, and see them in your Kapost content feed.
To do this, you will add the content into Kapost, click "Publish," and "Mark Content as Published."
After you have marked the content as published, you can then choose to update the publish URL.
Kapost will show you the current URL and the new URL. Changing the URL will also change the tracking URL, allowing Kapost to report analytics on the content.
Updating the URL will only pull in social stats, such as Tweet, Retweets, Mentions, Shares, Likes and Linkedin Shares but will not pull in Page Views or Uniques. However, manually published URLs will pull in Page Views and Uniques with an integration with Google Analytics.
Scroll down to the bottom of the HTML.
The analytics code will look something like, though it changes slightly on a post by post basis:
<!-- BEGIN KAPOST ANALYTICS CODE -->
var _kaq = _kaq || ;
_kaq.push([2, "52434be0d0b662655c0001c9", "52435bd9b905aa348f00070d"]);
var ka = document.createElement('script'); ka.async=true; ka.id="ka_tracker"; ka.src="http://savoy.heroku.com/ka.js";
var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script'); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ka, s);
<!-- END KAPOST ANALYTICS CODE -->
You can get this script from the source code that appears when you click "publish manually," and will need to be inserted into the HTML Source Code on the individual blog post in your CMS.
Whether you have published content in Kapost whose published URL has changed OR you have already published content outside of Kapost that you would like to include in your Kapost Content Marketing Machine, you can choose to update and change the URL, and begin pulling data on this piece of content.
Note: You can update the published URL for all content types except Eloqua/Marketo emails, as they do not have a published URL.
