Use SEO On Content

Kapost's SEO tool uses Scribe to import your SEO data from your CMS, as well as the data you enter into Kapost when you're setting up SEO. Make sure that SEO is set up before you use SEO on your content.

Kapost can pull in and analyze your SEO data on any post that is set up with a CMS as a primary destination. You can use any CMS for this. Note that the SEO section is surfaced in Kapost in HTML content in Studio. However, if you want to publish your SEO information (HTML Title, meta tags) to your blog, this is only possible through Wordpress, Drupal, and Expression Engine.

If SEO is enabled in settings you'll see an area on the content page called SEO Information. It is found under Additional Information:

Click the [ + ] to expand the area.  

In the image below, we are editing the SEO information for our destination labeled "SalesPower" (Item 1). The next four fields let you customize the way your post shows up in searches.

  • The HTML Title (Item 2) is the title that would show up in a search engine. This is defaulted to the title of the content. We show a character count of how long your title is; we recommend staying under 72 characters.
  • The Meta Description (Item 3) is the description of your content. We recommend staying under 165 characters for this area.
  • Focus Keywords are the words that you have selected to target (Item 4).
  • If you use Yoast, All-in-One or Genesis you may have Meta Keywords, type you can fill out the field under Meta Keywords (Item 5).
  • We provided a Search Preview which will give you an idea of how  your post would show up in a search engine (Item 6).

Note: HTML Title and Meta Description are the only two required fields.

Once you have the required fields filled out, you then press "Fetch Analysis" button. This will automatically pull out all the keywords from your content that a search engine would associate with the content.  You will be given a grade (A+ through F-) based on the strength of the keywords of your content. Your keywords can fall under two categories: Good or Bad. 

  • Good Keywords: Keywords that are strong and related to the content. 
  • Bad Keywords: Words that aren't related to the content.

These keywords are then measured on how well they rank for your site.

  • Good for your site: Keywords in your content that match your overall site.
  • Bad for your site: Keywords that don't help your site rank better.

The grade is also based on how well they match your Targeted Keywords. 

This is how your grades are measured:

A - Match Site & Content
B -  Match Article Only
C - Match Site Only
D - Doesn't Match
* You can receive an A if your Keywords match the article [and not your site] but also match your Targeted Keywords

You will be given suggestions how to improve your SEO grade if you receive anything lower than an A+.  We will also list Keywords that closely match your content and list Keywords that loosely match your content.

  • "Keywords that closely matched" means these are the keywords that match what you have written about.
  • "Keywords that loosely matched"  are the keywords that could be matched better if you change what you wrote about. For example, if you were given: "Keywords that loosely match: brand awareness, a business card, boost your business, well designed business card" if you wrote about design more you would more closely match "well designed business card." You can use this to better target your content for SEO keywords that you want to match.
