Integrate with TypePad

For Typepad, you will need your login credentials (Username  and  Password), along with your URL.

To get your URL, go to your TypaPad instance and click on the Blogs menu.  Choose the blog you would like to connect.  The URL that appears in the navigation window is the URL that Kapost needs.

Go to "Settings" --> "App Center" --> "Install More Apps" and select Typepad from the platform drop down.  For more information about using the app center, read this article.

A window will open where you can fill in the required credentials.

If you have multiple blogs in Typepad, we recommend, for security reasons, having a different user login for each blog, and that user should only have access to that one blog. Add a new connection in Kapost for each separate blog using their individual login credentials.

That said, if you have multiple blogs in your Typepad instance, a dropdown will appear in your authentication area in Kapost where you can choose which blog you want to specifically publish to.

Once you are connected, it is important to make this the Primary Destination for the corresponding Content Type, you can learn how to do that here. You can add multiple TypePad blogs to a single content type which will allow you to publish to multiple blogs at once.

A few components we cannot support based on Typepad's API:

  • We do not support author bylines with TypePad, the API does not allow us to do this. A work around allows you to make MULTIPLE connections in the distribution area of Kapost, per author. For instance, if you have three authors and you want their byline to carry over, make three separate instructions as shown below and put the unique username and password for each of those users. Then you can choose from the publish options which author should be associated to the post you're publishing.
  • Custom fields are stripped out when they come from Kapost > Typepad, so unfortunately, custom fields (e.g. like SEO fields, etc.) do not sync.

Once you publish your post to TypePad we will return the URL of the post, along with Analytics.
